Community Values + Code of Conduct

To help clarify expectations and establish a safe and respectful environment for all, Proyecto Sol has defined Community Values and Code of Conduct. Our goal is to create a positive, safe, and compassionate culture that honors the dignity of each member, participant, and/or guest, and to provide a clear framework so that all know what to expect of each other and the community.

Values and Codes

RESPECT AND SUPPORT

Everyone in the community will be treated with respect and support; we are an inclusive community that welcomes everyone with open arms - regardless of gender identity, race, religion, languages, sexual orientation, location, and/or socioeconomic background.

COMPASSION

Members should be encouraged to show compassion and empathy towards one another, recognizing that safe spaces, family history, lived experiences and mental health struggles can be difficult and complex.

DISCRIMINATION OR HARASSMENT

Discrimination or harassment of any kind is not tolerated in the community, including discrimination based on mental health status. If an individual displays such behavior during a meeting, Slack message, or event, they will be immediately banned from the community. No exceptions.

Members ar encouraged to report any concerns they have regarding the behavior of other members or the community as a whole.

MODERATION

Moderators will be present to ensure that the community remains a safe and supportive space, and to address any concerns or conflicts that may arise.

CONFIDENTIALITY

All information shared in the community will be kept confidential.

COMMUNICATION

Communication should be positive, constructive, and non-judgmental. Members should avoid using language that is discriminatory, offensive, or stigmatizing.

RESOURCES

The community should provide resources for members, including studies and links to Latinx-specific mental health professional platforms, research, crisis hotlines, and other relevant resources.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Members are responsible for their own behavior and should take responsibility for the impact of their words and actions on others.

MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS

Any discussion or promotion of self-harm will be restricted. Members will be directed to seek professional help if they are experiencing such thoughts. Moderators will immediately guide the individual to the appropriate resources in case of a mental health crisis.
